Spectrum Olive Oils

Spectrum was relaunching their highest end products — a line of specialty olive oils that showcases the unique characteristics of various olive varieties. We were tasked with creating packaging that would clearly communicate this exclusivity. An audit of oil aisles led us to reject the muted colors and soft, old-world design common in the industry. We opted for bright hues, contemporary fonts, and solid and strong background colors that would really pop. Clean, bold design cues—pulling out the first letter of each varietal name and a selecting a different background color for each oil — unifies the product family, while making it easy for the customer to instantly differentiate between them. The design also allows for a considerable amount of product copy, while still maintaining a strong and uncluttered look. The result? A line of olive oils that look as distinctive as they taste.
